Each HP BladeSystem p-Class enclosure requires an interconnect kit. The kit includes two interconnects that slide into the server blade enclosure and collect network and storage signals from the server blades. Several types of interconnects are available including interconnect switches and patch panels. The ProLiant interconnect switches are designed to dramatically reduce the number of Ethernet network cables attached to the rear of the blade enclosure. The pair of interconnect Switches collect four network signals per server blade bay (32 network signals total) and concentrate them to one to twelve ports for connection to the network backbone. Interconnect switches from different server enclosures (either ProLiant BL e-Class and/or p-Class) may be linked together to even further reduce network cabling and to provide any desired level of oversubscription.
