Description
Marrying classic analog musicality with modern clarity, the Drawmer 1979 is a rackmounted channel strip with a pristine preamp with dedicated mic, line, and Hi-Z inputs. Featuring a Lift function for dynamically boosting low signals without clipping and fully parametric 3-band EQ control, this channel strip offers many tools for modern tracking, mixing, and mastering. The preamp input section allows you to switch the mic impedance to match any type of microphone, flip polarity, utilize a 30/80/110 Hz high-pass filter, activate phantom power, or engage in stepped gain control. This section also features a dedicated front-panel 1/4" Hi-Z input and the Lift function. The 3-band parametric EQ section offers variable frequency control and 12 dB boost or cut per band. The compressor offers typical and intuitive dynamics controls, including threshold, ratio, attack, and release as well as a gain-reduction meter. These two sections can be swapped or individually bypassed. Finally, the output stage provides parallel processing via a wet/dry mix control and a -10 to +20 dB output trim knob. The analog VU meter lets you keep an eye on your output levels and can be switched to rescale mode which adds a 10 dB pad to the readout. The 1979 includes a power cable for its manually switched internal power supply. What Is Lift? Lift is a single-switch solution to record low-signal levels. Developed by Ivor Drawmer, it is seamless in its operation, Lift is, in essence, a low-level dynamic gain module, which has no effect on signals above 0 dB, but increases gain dynamically on levels between 0 and -30 dB, up to a maximum of 10 dB, and then continues to add 10 dB of gain to signals below -30 dB.When recording very quiet passages, the most common answer to obtain a loud enough recording is to simply add more gain. However, as this occurs throughout the entire audio level range, increasing the loud signals, clipping and distortion can easily occur. The cleverness of the Lift switch is that it dynamically increases only the volume of the very quiet signals below the threshold of 0 dB, leaving anything above untouched, meaning that no unnecessary clipping occurs during loud passages.Pristine Preamp The pristine THAT Corporation preamplifier offers mic, line, and instrument DI with 66 dB of stepped gain, enabling you to create ultraclean, transparent, and precise recordings as well as enhance dull audio or perfect your guitar sound. Additionally, the preamplifier features mic matching via switched impedance, allowing you to bring out the best in every mic in your studio. Whether it s high end, ribbon, or even your dullest mic, you ll be able to find its sweet spot.Parametric 3-Band EQ Control The 1979 features a true parametric equalizer with three bands of fully variable frequency control and cut/boost of 12 dB, along with a switchable bandwidth control for the mid band, making it incredibly versatile and capable of modifying everything from subtle fine tuning to tone sculpting problematic recordings.Low band: 50 to 700 HzMid band: 75 Hz to 10 kHzHigh band: 1.25 to 12 kHzEQ in control offers a hard-wired bypass for A/B comparisonsThe Swap control lets you swap the order of the EQ and compressor sections in the signal chainCompressor Stage The fully featured soft-knee compressor allows for precise control of dynamics, suitable for anything from subtle vocal compression to intense drum processing.+20 to -30 dB Threshold controlContinuous ratio adjustment from 1:1 to 20:1 (hard limiting)0.2 to 200ms Attack adjustmentRelease control from 0.01 to 2.5 seconds8-segment LED bargraph meter for measuring gain reduction (from 0 to 20 dB)The compressor section can be manually deactivated via hard-wired bypassOutput Section The output section includes a wet/dry mix for parallel processing that allows you to easily dial in how much EQ and compression is used via a single knob, plus an output gain control to act as a makeup gain for the compressor or to match high-end
