Description
Experience sonic clarity and accuracy with the Parasound Halo P6 2.1-Channel Preamp and DAC in black. The Halo P6 is a versatile and well-appointed component that seamlessly integrates your digital and analog stereo sources to connect to a power amplifier or recorder. It features asynchronous-USB, coaxial, and two optical digital audio inputs processed through a high-resolution ESS Sabre DAC capable of up to 384 kHz/32-bit decoding. Five analog stereo RCA inputs are available along with a fifth shared audio input that can be either RCA or balanced XLR. Furthermore, a high-grade phono stage input is capable of MM and MC cartridge loads.2.1-channel output is available via balanced XLR or unbalanced RCA with adjustable high and low-pass filters. For convenience, the front panel houses a 3.5mm aux input for a portable music player, and a 3.5mm high-current headphone output. Additionally, IR in and loop out, along with a 12V trigger out make it easy to incorporate into a larger AV system.Phono Input The P6 is equipped with a high-quality phono stage. If you wish to connect a turntable, set the Load/Cartridge switch to MM (moving magnet) or MC (100 or 47k moving coil), depending on your cartridge type. Select MM if you are not sure which type of cartridge you have. If you use the MC setting with an MM cartridge the volume level will be very high and distorted. If your turntable won't reach adequate volume, or if it plays too loud, you have selected the incorrect cartridge type. Don't forget to connect the ground wire from your turntable to the Phono GND (ground) terminal on the P6.High and Low Pass Crossover Setup The P6 is equipped with adjustable low-pass and high-pass crossovers. Crossovers are filters that allow certain frequencies to pass while blocking other frequencies. A low-pass filter permits only low frequencies to pass and blocks high frequencies. A high-pass filter permits only high frequencies to pass and blocks low frequencies. 80 Hz is the best starting frequency for both the high and low-pass crossovers if you are using a subwoofer and are not certain where to set the crossover frequency. If you are not using a subwoofer, set the P6 Main Output Crossover switch to its Off position. The crossover settings affect both RCA and XLR Main Outputs.Home Theater Bypass The Bypass input jacks are used to incorporate the P6 into a surround sound system. This allows you to use the same left, right, and subwoofer speakers for stereo sound with the preamp engaged and as part of a multi-channel surround sound system while bypassing the P6 volume and tone controls. This connection is only to be used for a receiver with a preamp output, the P6 Bypass Inputs should not be connected directly to any source component with a fixed output level.Additional Features ESS Sabre32 Reference DAC (ES9018K2M)Asynchronous USB 2.0 supports PCM up to 384 kHz/32-bitCoax and optical inputs accept PCM up to 192 kHz/24-bitBall bearing supported solid aluminum volume knobFront panel subwoofer level controlDimmable front panel volume displayProgramable default turn on volume settingDedicated high current headphone amplifier (TI TPA6120)Front panel aux input with automatic +12 dB gain stageBass and treble controls can be turned on and offBacklit remote control with discrete buttonsRack mountable with HRA 2 rack mount kit (sold separately)
