Made to help audiophiles achieve a first-class vinyl listening experience, the AT-ART1000x Direct Power Stereo Moving Coil Cartridge from Audio-Technica uses an innovative direct power system that places the dual moving PCOCC coil directly above the special line contact stylus tip, removing the negative effects normally caused by the cantilever's length and material. By moving so close together, they pick up incredibly subtle details in each groove. The stylus is attached to a 0.26mm diameter solid boron cantilever, which helps further increase playback accuracy and sonic detail. These parts join a specially coated titanium base and a body that installs easily onto an optional headshell or integrated tonearm.Dual Nonmagnetic Moving Coils Each of the nonmagnetic core coils is made of 0.79 mil diameter PCOCC (Pure Copper by Ohno Continuous Casting) wire, hand-wound eight turns to create a 0.043" x 0.024" rectangle. Compared to a round coil, the rectangular shape positions more of it in the magnetic field, delivering more accurate reproductions of material with strong modulations, improved output voltage, and an expanded low-frequency range. Each coil generates 0.22mV of output voltage and a 3.5-ohm impedance. Values are obtained not just from the shape but by containing a 0.98 mil ultrathin special film that's placed in a tiny 0.020" gap of a powerful magnetic circuit.Titanium Base Supporting the specialized magnetic circuit and vibration system is a base made from titanium, with a special coating applied to protect the circuit from corrosion.
