Description
The BBR1-B BlackBox Recorder from JoeCo is a standalone, USB based, 24-track recorder that has been specifically designed for recording live performances and multichannel audio with balanced analog I/O. While functionally identical to other models in the BlackBox range, the BBR1-B is tailored for use with standard analog mixing consoles via balanced +4 dBu or -10 dBu connections using 25-pin D-sub connectors wired to the TASCAM analog format. This compact 1 RU recorder uses electronically balanced signals. Its balanced inputs are the lower row of three 25-way D-type connectors and its balanced outputs are the upper row, enabling easy capture of soundchecks, performances, and rehearsals. With features optimized for live use including virtual soundcheck, zero-latency monitoring, and power-fail-safe relays the BBR1-B ensures secure, high-quality multitrack recording without requiring a computer. Recordings are written directly to USB2 drives in Broadcast WAV (BWF) format at up to 24-bit/96 kHz resolution, making it easy to import tracks into any DAW with no conversion. Playback lockout and accidental-record-stop protection keep performances secure, while multiple BlackBox units can be linked for larger setups. Designed with simplicity in mind, the BBR1-B is the ideal solution for engineers who need reliable, high-quality capture in live or mobile environments.Quick Features 24-track audio recorder with balanced analog I/OVirtual sound check facility24-bit / 96 kHz conversionSimple user interfaceZero latency inputs routed directly to output during record via relay for safety against power failureKeyboard input for naming tracks and songsData entry wheel for navigating menus and making adjustmentsMIDI Machine Control (MMC)AES and S/PDIF word clockLinear Time Code (LTC) and MIDI Time Code (MTC)Sony PII (9-pin) controlRecords to standard USB2 drive in BWF format instant import into DAWMultiple BlackBox Recorder units can be chained for really large multi-track recordingsApplications as standalone multi-channel recorder for use in studios, conferences, conventions, logging, and monitoringDetailed Features Designed for simplicity, with front-panel transport controls that will be instantly familiar to engineers Enables engineers to focus on live sound without being distracted by complex recorder operation Defaults to all 24 tracks armed-just press record to begin capturing Footswitch input available for triggering record remotely without leaving the console LED level meters with variable brightness give at-a-glance level monitoring, with sticky peaks to catch overloads Main screen shows elapsed recording time and available disk space Keyboard input for naming songs and tracks for easy file management post-show Four function buttons-Menu/Ok, Loop, Mark, and Back-plus data/scrub wheel for menu navigation and loop point setting Loop playback of specific sections during soundcheck for easy mix adjustments Input signal is routed directly to output via relays during record or idle, preserving signal flow, even in the event of power loss Menu options for sample rate, track arming, timecode, digital clock settings, I/O levels, file naming, and more Playback lockout engages automatically when recording starts, preventing unintentional interruptions Uses electronically balanced signals.
