DW DRUMS

Combining the warm tonality of North American maple with the crisp attack and dry sustain of aircraft-grade aluminum, the DW Drums SonicPly Snare is a 6.5x14" 12-ply snare drum featuring a handcrafted 10-ply maple shell with two aluminum core plys for sonic versatility. Offering a higher pitch with a brighter tone and shorter sustain than pure maple, this snare is ideal for studio and stage. The SonicPly snare offers not only unique and flexible tonality but also smooth and easy adjustments via advanced hardware. Turret lugs prevent warping while the stainless steel tuning rods are robust; the snare features 20% more threads than a standard snare drum, for more precise tuning. True Hoops provide a rounded top edge for enhanced articulation and maximized shell contact. The magnetic MAG throw off enables smooth action. A five-position butt plate offers five levels of wire tension adjustment.Maple Meets Metal After two years of relentless development led by John Good, DW SonicPly combines aircraft-grade aluminum with an American Maple shell for enhanced attack and articulation, offering warm tonality and focused sustain. SonicPly snare drums feature a 12-ply maple shell with two 1/36" aluminum sheets, sandwiching the middle plies. Get all the sonic versatility of maple and aluminum in one breakthrough shell design.Bearing Edge These Collector's Series shells are precision-cut with 60 bearing edges. These edges provide depth and punch from your snare drum.Sound Comparison Compared to the neutral tone of a Pure Maple 333 drum shell, the SonicPly shell produces a higher pitch, brighter tone, and shorter sustain. Combining the warm resonance of maple with the dry attack of aluminum results in a bright and resonant but controlled and consistent drum sound perfect for touring and studio drummers alike.Advanced Hardware Collector s Series' turret lugs offer an iconic design, while holding tuning and distributing tension to prevent warping.True-Pitch tuning features 5mm threads rather than the standard 12/24. There s a thread every 0.8mm on DW True-Pitch rods or about 20% more threads, versus a thread every 1.05mm on standard rods. The result is a more exact tuning process.True Hoops offer a fully rounded top edge to reduce stick chop and enhance articulation, while a rounded outer edge maximizes shell contact for truer tuning and tone. The MAG throw-off has an integrated magnet and horizontal tension adjustment for smooth, easy-adjust action. The 5P (five-position) butt plate gives drummers five levels of snare wire tension to dial in just the right snare sound.
