Description
The Dvina Electro-Acoustic Instrument from SOMA Laboratory draws on the rich tradition of Persian and Hindustani stringed instruments while adding the modernization of electronic integration. Create exotic and mysterious eastern-tinged compositions or expand on the instrument's capabilities to create something totally unique. The solid ash neck and crossbar add to the organic, traditional feel of the instrument.A neodymium magnet hidden in the neck is the main source of sound capture on Dvina, while weaker signals from the strings are amplified by a custom-made transformer built into the body. These principles resemble the function of a ribbon microphone and facilitate maximum fidelity and nuance in its sound. It is also exceedingly resistant to electromagnetic interference and feedback. Well suited for live performance and studio settings, Dvina can be connected to a stompbox, guitar amp, direct box, or Hi-Z input on an audio interface.Additional Details Uses two cello strings (C# and G#) Made from a single piece of woodCan be bowed or pluckedStrap locks allow use of a traditional guitar strapNeck and crossbar are made of solid ash and covered with varnish intended to accentuate the woodgrain rather than cover itM6 screw for attaching the crossbar to the neck, bow is not includedFretless fingerboard with dot markers1/4" TS unbalanced audio output
