The KIPON Focal Reducer Lens Adapter is a high-performance optical tool designed to mount Mamiya 645 medium format lenses onto LPL-mount cine cameras, including models like the ARRI ALEXA 65, BMCC 17K, and Fujifilm GFX ETERNA. By incorporating a 0.8x focal reducer, this adapter effectively shortens the lens' focal length, expanding the field of view to closely match the original medium format perspective. This design virtually eliminates crop factor image loss and maintains the diagonal angle of view, allowing cinematographers to fully utilize the capabilities of their Mamiya 645 lenses on modern digital cinema platforms.The adapter features a pro lock mechanism, securing the lens firmly to the camera body to prevent any movement during shooting, which is particularly beneficial for video applications. Optically, it comprises three groups of five high-quality glass elements arranged in a telecentric design, ensuring that light enters the sensor as vertically as possible. This configuration not only enhances image sharpness across the frame but can also improve the modulation transfer function (MTF) of certain lenses, leading to superior image quality. Additionally, the adapter increases light transmission, effectively boosting the lens's maximum aperture by one stop for instance, transforming an f/2.8 lens into an effective f/2.0 resulting in a shallower depth of field and improved low-light performance.
