Distinguished by its rugged reliability and expandable outputs, the PRESSPOWER 3 Active Press Box from Whirlwind is a high-performance mic feed distributor with two RF-shielded mic/line inputs and 16 transformer-isolated mic/line outputs for clean audio in nearly any environment. Designed for portability and broadcast applications, the PRESSPOWER 3 features a switchable 20-segment LED level meter, an internal test tone generator, a built-in headphone amp with volume control, high-pass filters, and phantom power all easily accessible on the front panel.The unit can run off AC, DC, or 9V battery power, offering powerful flexibility and automatic power switching when power input is interrupted. In situations where the 16 outputs are not sufficient, the PRESSPOWER 3 is compatible with an optional expander module and optional press boxes. A Whirlwind PRESS2XP expander module can be used to increase the number of outputs to a total of 32 active outputs. Simply take a PRESS2EXCBL 6-pin cable (not included) and attach it from the rear of the PRESSPOWER to the PRESS2XP. Another option allows for additional mic outputs to be achieved by adding passive PB Series press boxes to any outputs set to line level. These options can be especially useful when recording from a fixed position with a large number of disparate input sources.Flexible Power Options The PRESSPOWER 3 can be powered via three distinct methods: AC power, DC power, and four 9V batteries. AC power is available using a common 3-prong terminal in the rear. DC power can be used with an external DC supply (12-36 VDC) via the rear terminals, allowing the use of car batteries, cigarette lighters, camera pack batteries, and other common DC sources. Finally, four 9V batteries can be loaded in slots on the front for a highly portable and wireless option ideal for field recording applications in remote locations. In the event of a power interruption, failure, or battery exhaustion, the unit will automatically switch to alternate power by selecting the strongest voltage available.
