An optional part of their Universal Filter Changer System, the Alpine Astronomical Baader UFC Straylight-Flange Adapter is required when using the UFC without mounting the system to a telescope. This adapter is placed onto the telescope side of the UFC changer base, closing the base to stray light for improved image quality. Using the UFC on a DSLR without a telescope allows for filtered wide-field images of night sky objects like the moon or galaxies, selective-wavelength photography of terrestrial subjects like plants and flowers, or forensic use.
