Tele Vue

Ideally suited for astronomy and astrophotography, the ivory Tele Vue TV-85 85mm f/7 APO Doublet Refractor Telescope is designed to be an easy grab-and-go option for celestial observing, or a lightweight spotting scope alternative for birdwatching and other terrestrial uses.It employs Japanese-made optical glass set in an apochromatic doublet lens configuration to produce flat views with accurate color fidelity and improved contrast, without fringing or halos. Complementing the lens design, are broadband fully multi-coated optics that are specifically index matched to the lens glass to maximize light transmission across the visual spectrum and to ensure accurate color rendition, improved contrast, and clarity. A large 2" dual-speed focuser is used, to bring lunar details, planetary features, or distant objects into tack-sharp resolution.Tele Vue offers this TV-85 stripped of accessories and without a mount or tripod for users who have their own equipment and support systems and who are looking to add a competent, yet portable, optical tube assembly to their kit, or for those who wish to build a completely custom rig.Optical Tube Assembly Ideal for astronomy, astrophotography, and birdwatching/digiscoping85mm aperture draws in light for observing the moon, planets, and bright deep sky objects while remaining lightweight and portableFast f/7 focal ratio makes it ideal for celestial observing and astrophotography600mm focal length produces a moderate magnification potential while ensuring a shorter optical tube for easier handling and portabilityApochromatic doublet lens configuration eliminates spherical aberrations that cause distortion at the edges of the field of view, and corrects chromatic aberration for accurate colors without fringing or halosPrecision Japanese-made optical glass specifically chosen for its purity and high light transmission propertiesIndex-matched broadband fully multi-coated to complement the optical glass and ensure maximum light transmission across the entire visual spectrum, to ensure accurate color fidelity and improved contrast and clarityVisual resolution: 1.4 arc sec, Dawes LimitSliding metal dew shield helps to keep objective lens clear of condensationScrew-on objective lens cover eliminates the possibility of cap coming off during transport and storage, ensuring lens remains protected when not in useIvory powder-coated aluminum optical tubeMounting Optical tube assembly only; mount and tripod required for proper useOptional cradle ring available for photo/video tripod use or to attach dovetail saddleRecommended for use with Tele Vue Tele-Pod, Panoramic, or Gibraltar HD4/5 mountsCompact design: 19" length, 6-pound weightFocuser Sturdy and reliable rack-and-pinion designDual-speed focuser enables fast coarse and precision fine focusing10:1 reducer gear enables precise focusing for tack-sharp images during observation and imaging2" drawtube allows the use of large eyepieces and accessories to be usedFocuser tension knobs help to keep movement smooth depending on the weight of accessories used on it, while helping to minimize backlashCarrying Bag Custom-fitted case fits TV-85 onlyDual hand-carry straps with padded palm closureAdjustable shoulder strap with padDual zippers on lidFoam cutouts for Starbeam, one 2" eyepiece, and five 1.25" eyepiecesExterior dimensions (excluding handles and strap): 23.5 x 9 x 5.5"Empty weight: 1.9 pounds
